What we collect

When you use Talerly, we collect:

  • Account information: your email address and password (encrypted).
  • Book content: the story details you provide (character names, themes, story ideas, dedications), and the text and images we generate for your books.
  • Reference photos (optional): if you upload a photo to help keep your character's appearance consistent, we store this photo securely. It is used only to generate your book's illustrations and is not shared with third parties for any other purpose.
  • Payment information: when you make a purchase, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details — Stripe handles this directly.
  • Usage data: basic technical information (like browser type and general usage patterns) to help us improve the product and fix bugs.

How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Generate your personalized books (text and illustrations).
  • Maintain your account and library of books.
  • Process payments and manage download credits.
  • Send essential account emails (signup verification, password reset).
  • Improve Talerly's features and fix issues.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Third-party services

To provide Talerly's features, we work with these service providers, who may process your data on our behalf:

  • Supabase — account authentication, database, and file storage.
  • Volcengine (Doubao) — AI text and image generation for your books.
  • Stripe — payment processing.

Each of these providers has its own privacy and security practices. We choose providers that maintain industry-standard security measures.

Data retention

  • Books that have not been unlocked for download are stored for 30 days, then may be deleted.
  • Books you've unlocked with a download credit are stored for 1 year from the date of unlocking.
  • You can delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Children's privacy

Talerly is designed for parents, grandparents, and other adults to create books for or about children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The account holder (an adult) is responsible for any information about a child entered into the platform (such as a child's name or photo used as a story reference).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at terryhke@gmail.com.
